On September 24, 2013, Minnesota Continuing Legal Education presented Starting Your Own Solo or Small Firm – and Doing it Right! Leonard Segal served as the Course Chair for this terrific program designed to help both experienced and new attorneys who are starting, or thinking about starting, their own law practice. Over 140 attorneys attended this program and received practical, real-world tips and advice about starting and running a law firm.
In addition to chairing the program, Lenny also moderated a panel discussion of lawyers who have started their own practice. The panel was a golden opportunity for attorneys to learn from the trials and tribulations of peers who have “been there” and know what it takes to start and run a law firm. Jon Schindel and Scott Seiler led a terrific afternoon session on selecting a business entity for your new law firm. Scott and Jon went beyond the basics and helped attendees analyze the legal, practical and ethical considerations when making this important decision.
The September 24, 2013, program featured some returning speakers, some new speakers, some repeat topics and some new topics, as well as a special networking lunch that allowed attendees to network with other lawyers and faculty members. The program was so well received, we anticipate doing it again in the Spring of 2014!
